However, manager Miguel Herrera expects an announcement in the coming days, although he stopped short of saying who the player is.

Speaking to media following the disappointing 0-0 draw at Tijuana on Friday night, Herrera said: “There are advanced talks.

“They are on track and I hope to have him in Mexico as soon as possible, so that he adapts quickly and his team-mates get to know him.”

While the Mexica City club were being coy on the matter, it would appear Brazilian giants Flamengo didn’t get the memo.

The CEO of the Rio club, Bruno Spindel, all but confirmed that Robert Piris Da Motta is the individual in question.

“The negotiations for Piris continue,” Spindel said.

“It is possible that a more concrete evolution will happen next week.”
