Alphonse Areola 'can't wait' for Le Classique | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola believes that their double-header against Marseille will be great preparation for the Champions League clash with Real Madrid in a few weeks.

The capital club take on their bitter league rivals on Sunday evening and then face them in the Coupe de France next Wednesday.

And the shot-stopper is confident that those matches will stand the team in good stead when they take on Los Blancos in the return leg of their European last 16 game.

“It is the opportunity for us to show how good our supporters are and how strong we are together,” he told the club’s official website.

“This chemistry between the fans and the players is very important.

“We need to show that we are together and that we want to beat every team that comes to Parc des Princes.”

The 24-year-old also acknowledged that there is extra motivation for him to face Marseille in Le Classique as a Paris native.

“When we know Le Classique is coming, we really start looking forward to playing.

“We want to play, and to win, because we are playing OM.

“When you are Parisien, you know what this rivalry represents. We want to be able to say the next day, ‘We won!'”
