Strangely enough, Pumas were the only side to see all of their players stay home.

In an effort to train young talent for the 2022 and 2026 World Cups, 17 of Mexico’s 25 players who were called up to face Argentina play domestically.

Cruz Azul’s Julio Dominguez replaced Santos Laguna’s Jesus Angulo for El Tri after the defender broke his hand in training.

Liga MX are also sending players to represent Ecuador (6), Peru (5), Chile (4), Colombia (3), Honduras (3), Paraguay (3), Argentina (1), Canada (1), and Uruguay (1).
