After another Chivas loss against Pumas, José Cardozo was finally let go, with Alberto Coyote being named interim manager.

Cardozo won just nine out of 28 games and missed the Liguilla last season after taking over for Matías Almeyda, who had guided Chivas to the CONCACAF Champions League title.

Juan Carlos Osorio is by far the favorite to land the job. However, there are many alternatives.

Jose Manuel de la Torre, Ramón Morales, Luis Fernando Tena, or Antonio ‘Turco’ Mohamed could also the next in line to take over in Guadalajara.

Jose Manuel de la Torre has already led Chivas twice and won the 2006 Apertura title while in charge. He most recently managed Santos Laguna in 2017.

Ramón Morales has been a part of the Chivas coaching system in the past after playing in their midfield from 1999 to 2010. This could be his first big leap as a manager.

Luis Fernando Tena has bounced around Mexico with eight different teams since 1994 and won the 2012 Olympics with Mexico. He also lifted the 2014 CONCACAF Champions League trophy with Cruz Azul.

Finally, ‘Turco’ Mohamed could return to Mexico after an unsuccessful spell at Celta Vigo. He is currently struggling in his fourth stint at Huracan in Argentina.
