Adolfo Bautista played for Chivas de Guadalajara during two spells and does not like what he sees from the current squad.

The former striker recently caused a stir for his social media back-and-forth with Club América midfielder Mateus Uribe.

The retired Chivas forward spelled out his disappointment with the under-performing squad in an interview with La Afición.

“The fact of how far Chivas have come to not qualifying in the last few years, that hurts. But a big team like Chivas are, the fans have to support them and hopefully they end well. You can qualify [for the Liguilla] and fight for the championship. ”

Bautista called out the current crop of players but then appeared to point the finger a bit higher.

“What is missing, frankly is a love for the shirt. Maybe over the last few years an identity had been lost and I’m not talking just about Chivas but of several teams. An identity of players because they sell them, and that has happened.”

“The last one that fans were identifying were with [Rodolfo] Pizarro and they sold him and right now the team suffers from that, from not having a point-guard, a key player who can guarantee the supply of balls to players like [Alan] Pulido and Alexis [Vega].”
