Veracruz 0-1 Puebla

Veracruz are on the verge of relegation (or paying 120 million pesos to avoid it) and didn’t do themselves any favors on Friday night as they fell to visiting Puebla.

Canadian international Lucas Cavallini headed home the game’s only goal in the 38th minute.

Veracruz had plenty of opportunities to get back in the match, but those chances turned to dust after Rodrigo López was sent off in the 48th minute.

Veracruz stay firmly on the bottom of the relegation title.

Atlas 3-1 Lobos BUAP

In a match that exceeded the expectations of the fans, Atlas pummeled Lobos 3-1 thanks to an overwhelming attacking showcase.

Anderson Santamaria opened the scoring just before the half-time intermission.

Atlas were able to generate 27 shots, including 10 on target, and had to wait until late in the match to guarantee all three points.

Facundo Barcelo and Clifford Aboagye scored within an eight-minute span to give Atlas a three-goal lead before Bryan Rabello’s consolation goal in the 86th minute.

Atlas are now tied in second in the Liga MX standings on seven points while Lobos stay on six points.
