Despite numerous chances to get a positive result on the road, América had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Estadio Leon on Saturday evening.

Agustín Marchesín played a phenomenal match for the visitors as he frustrated the Leon attack all night long with a floury of saves, including key saves versus Jow Campbell to keep the match leveled at zero.

With the score still tied in the second half, both teams continued to get the breakthrough but were unable. América came close, but a penalty kick in their favor was taken back due to VAR and the referee decided there was no contact between Andrés Mosquera and América’s Roger Martínez.

América thought they had found their breakthrough in the 82nd minute when Leon’s Fernando Navarro received a red card. However, despite Miguel Herrera sending his entire team to the attacking third looking for the game-winner, Leon was able to fight off the strong attack and earn a 0-0 draw in the second game of the 2019 Apertura.
