This Saturday marks the 200th edition of the biggest rivalry of Mexican football between América v Chivas.
In 199 career competitive matches between the two sides, América currently have the all-time advantage, having won 71 times to Chivas’ 63, with the teams playing to a draw on 65 occasions.
Interestingly enough, Chivas lead in terms of goals scored, as they currently hold a 245-244 lead.
The azulcrema come into the match in fifth place, five points and a game behind leaders Querétaro thanks to a six-match winless run in the league (0W-5D-1L), with their last victory taking place way back on 17 August – a 1-0 win over Monarcas.
América will receive a Chivas side that is a very critical phase – well in the middle of a relegation battle having fired Tomás Boy on Thursday, with Luis Fernando Tena taking over with immediate effect.
Chivas themselves have only taken four of their last 18 possible points and sit in 15th place – four points behind eighth-placed Pachuca.
Furthermore, Chivas sit second-bottom in the relegation table, only above Veracruz, who are on just two points this season and a 37-match winless run.
