Agustín Marchesín has been named to the Liga MX Best XI for three consecutive seasons.

Tonight, he came up with a rare bad performance as Necaxa defeated América at the Estadio Azteca.

It only took five minutes for Henry Martín to smash home the opening goal from two yards.

The second half was an absolute horror show for América, which started with the first of two Cristian Calderón strikes in the 53rd minute.

Not one, but TWO defenders were caught ball-watching away from the play. Unbelievable!

It went from bad to worse as the ever-reliable Marchesín took a heavy touch under little pressure, allowing Brian Fernández to score his joint-best ninth goal of the season.

To add insult to injury, with the goalkeeper up for the corner, Calderón put the ball into the empty net to slam the match shut.

Not that it really matters in this match, but there’s a very strong case for offside on the pass prior to the goal.

The no-call could be crucial if the Liguilla race comes down to goal difference.

Miguel Herrera’s men are now one point outside the Liguilla standings in ninth place, while Necaxa jumped up to fifth.
